Letter to Governor Schwarzenegger

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger,
As a motivated and enthusiastic Republican voter, I am grievously disappointed in your refusal to deploy more troops on our border with Mexico.
In fact, I am extremely confused by your reluctance to take the kind of strong measures needed to control illegal immigration. Your statements on immigration frequently contradict one another. What is your position (besides astride the proverbial fence)?
It hurts me to say this; aside from your current political confusion and pandering, I think you are a wonderful person. I have supported you enthusiastically to my doubting liberal friends however, I cannot honestly vote for you this November if you continue your current path on immigration.
Consider this: If California took a more aggressive stance against illegal aliens, we might not find our prisons in crisis. While I agree that the problem is ultimately a Federal problem, continuing to ignore it just exacerbates it.
If your house were burning down, would you stand by and wait for the fire department? Or would you man the garden hose?
Please reconsider your immigration policy.1 - Deploy more National Guard (if they need to fight fires, redeploy them from a border location instead of their homes)as requested by The President. 2 - Build a fence - it works, ask the people of San Diego.3 - Demand that our cities rescind 'sanctuary' status. If local police would identify and help to remove illegals, crime would be reduced and again, there would be less pressure on the prison system.4 - Require photo ID when voters sign-in to vote.
Thank you,
Frank Harrell
